The 49th President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and Westland’s parliamentary seat aspirant Nelson Havi has called on Kenyans to offer financial aid for his campaign ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
In a statement posted on his various social media pages, the outspoken lawyer pledged for support before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deadline on election fundraiser set to be on December 9, 2021.
“IEBC has set 9-12-2021 as the deadline for election campaign financing fundraising. Please help us raise funds to serve the People of Westlands and Kenya in Parliament. You may deposit your contribution to the PayBill Number below or in our account on,” he wrote.
“I would ask all the people of Westlands to help me fund my campaign. I am not going to Parliament to seek or hide money. All who enjoyed my work should join me,” he added.
With less than a year to prepare for the polls, the IEBC has already kick-started mass voter registration that targets to register over 6 million new voters. By the end of the third week since the roll-out of the exercise, IEBC managed to list only 800,462 voters into their voters roll.
After the mass listing of voters, the Parliament has to approve the audit report between November 2 to 15.
Voter registration will end on February 28, 2022, to allow time for final verification that will lead to the gazetting of certified voters in the Kenyan Gazzette on May 2, 2022, three months to the polls.
