Jubilee nominated MP Maina Kamanda is breathing fire after the DP seemed to have disregarded the law. He has proposed arrest of the DP for defying the orders of the President.

Deputy President William Ruto finally stepped out to personally participate in distribution of food contributed by himself for the sake of troubled Kenyans. This is viewed as a way to paint Uhuru in bad picture.

Over the past few weeks, Ruto has been using his allies to distribute food, mattresses and monetary assistance to poor Kenyans whose lives have been badly affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Similarly, he has been using the same persons, including former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, to distribute foodstuff and money to victims of floods in Western Kenya.

But the DP on Wednesday stepped out and personally delivered food to residents of Nachu Ward in Kikuyu, Kiambu county, as a way of cushioning them from the economic hardship caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Today, 600 families were part of the wider 3,600 households that benefitted from our food distribution to shield Kenyans from adverse effects of the outbreaks,” he wrote on Facebook.

Ruto’s move comes as another show of defiance to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, given that the government has since banned private food distribution, directing well wishers to do it through the Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund.

Ruto has lately been accused of openly disobeying Uhuru, with most of the blame being based on his decision to entertain early campaigns by his allies, a good number of whom have been endorsing his 2022 presidential ambitions.

The DP was initially doing the distribution silently, with the details of the activity coming out only earlier in the month courtesy of his ally and controversial former State House operative Dennis Itumbi.

This was after intense bashings from his critics who mocked him for going missing when the nation needed him, wondering why he was hesitant to spend his millions on the suffering Kenyans.
