Malawi’s President Chakwera to Grace Mashujaa Day Celebrations

Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera will be the Chief Guest at this year’s Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County.

State House spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo confirmed in a statement that President Chakwera will arrive in the country on Tuesday, 19th October. He will be accompanied by the First Lady Mrs Monica Chakwera.

After the celebrations, President Lazarus Chakwera and his delegation will be hosted at the State House for bilateral talks.

“On Thursday, 21st October 2021, His Excellency President Lazarus Chakwera and his delegation will be officially received at State House, Nairobi by his hosts, President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta,” said Mararo.

This will be the first time, President Chakwera will visit Kenya after his historic win against incumbent Peter Mutharika.

Chakwera was sworn in June last year after winning 58.57 per cent of the vote in a re-run poll defeating Mutharika who only obtained about 40 per cent of the vote.
