Mama Ida Odinga, wife to ODM leader Raila Odinga had a very rough day in Meru County.
She had joined women faithful at Consolata grounds in Nkubu, Meru County. The event had been organised by the Catholic church.
Trouble started when Ida was invited to address the congregants.
Even she introduced herself, a section of the crowd was already booing her.
“I am the wife to Rt Hon Raila Odinga,” she started.
By this time, the jeering was too much, forcing the emcee to intervene.
“Please let us stop shouting her down. Let her make her speech,” she said.
However, the pleas fell on deaf ears. The women continued to jeer her.
Some can be heard as saying that they did not want her to speak to them.
Meru Senator Mithika Linturi also attempted to pacify the crowd, but he did not succeed.
After a minute or so, Mama Ida left the very dejected, but not without saying something.
“It’s all right, but remember I am a mother like you,” she said.
Minutes later, she was escorted out of the venue.
This comes barely a week after Meru Governor and his wife Priscilla were humiliated during a prayer meeting.
Priscilla asked the faithful if they have seen the work done by her husband and the answer was not encouraging.
She then sought to know how many people would re-elect the county boss and none raised their hands. She left the stage very embarrassed.
Kiraitu expressed he was not happy with how the locals treated his wife.
“Don’t humiliate me in front of my wife. That’s is very demoralising because when we go I will not feel like a man,” he said.
