A university student was on Monday charged before a Nairobi court with sending photos claimed to have been taken during an intimate moment with a married woman to the lady’s husband.
Stephen Wanjohi Kamande, 21, a student at a local university, was also charged with harassing the woman and threatening to kill her.
The suspect is said to have sent photos where he was reportedly intimate with the woman to her hiusband, an offence he committed between May 1, 2021, and January 14, 2022.
In the first count, the student was arrested on Friday and detained at Muthaiga Police Station, after he allegedly threatened to kill the woman and her family.
He was also charged that at an unknown place within the country, he published false information on his Facebook page about the woman’s husband.
Kamande sent the message knowing it was false and calculated to cause fear and panic to the family, the charge sheet read.
He also faces the charge of wrongful distribution of obscene materials.
It was stated that at an unknown place within the country, Kamande knowingly published indecent photos using his Facebook account purporting that they were photos of the woman.
Kamande denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo and was granted a bond of Sh200,000 or alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.
The case will be mentioned on March 1.
