A man is suffering from injuries at Bungoma Referral Hospital after he was abducted by unknown thugs in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
Jimmy Muturi, a businessman, says he was abducted yesterday
at around 630pm after asking for help from a saloon; only to meet armed men
with AK-47 and pistols in the vehicle.
“I opened the door and said niaje daktari (thinking the owner of the car was one of his friends), only to see strangers with guns,” Muturi said.
He says he was driven for a short distance before the car stopped. One of the thugs came out with a gun and forced him into the boot.
“As he pushed me to enter the boot, I found another person
who was unconscious. I tried waking him up but he couldn’t talk,” Muturi
explained.
He says after the tension, he was given a tablet that he
believes are drugs and that he lost consciousness thereafter before finding
himself in Bungoma County hospital.
Confirming this, Bungoma South Police chief Benjamin Kimwele
said an investigation had been launched to identify the perpetrators and to
determine the cause.
