The mandatory wearing of masks has now been lifted, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced.

The CS, however, encouraged the wearing of masks during indoor functions to curb the spread of Covid-19 disease.

Speaking when he addressed the media Friday afternoon, Kagwe said there will be the resumption of full capacity of worship where all congregates are vaccinated.

He also noted that travelers who are fully vaccinated will be exempted from the requirements of a PCR test.

“All passenger service vehicles, train and domestic air flying services may resume at full capacity. However, they must ensure that their staff are fully vaccinated and all travelers have their face mask on at all times during the travel,” said Kagwe.

The Ministry of Health imposed a nationwide mask mandate on April 3, 2020 at the height of COVID-19 infections and hospitalisations in the country.
