Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has filed a suit against Professor Makau Mutua for defamation in a court in Canada.
The two had engaged each other in a heated Twitter battle, Mutua alleging that Miguna sexually assaulted “vulnerable” clients who had sought legal help.
Mutua, a distinguished professor at SUNY Buffalo School of Law in New York, claimed the alleged case against Miguna was being revived.

Taking offence on the claims, the fiery lawyer demanded that Mutua retracts his posts and issue an apology over the claims he made, failure to which he (Miguna) would institute legal action.

Mutua turned down Miguna’s demand, the latter initiating a legal suit.
Meanwhile, Miguna is still in Germany, where he had gone to board a Kenyan-bound flight.
His attempts to travel back to Kenya ran into headwinds after Air France declined to fly him to Nairobi over fresh red alerts issued by the Kenyan government.
The exiled lawyer began his trip to Nairobi a few days ago despite the High Court’s refusal to lift the red alerts that also came in the way of his travels in January 2020.

In a statement, the exiled politician claimed Air France could not allow him to board the plane due to red alerts issued by the Kenyan government on Monday, November 15.
The High Court declined to lift the said red alerts On Friday, November 12.
