Suba North MP Millie Mabona Odhiambo has trust in God and believes that one day, she will carry a baby in her womb.
A Facebook pseudo account operating under her name had indicated that the MP had given up on ever having a baby.
“Those of you who always like attacking me for not having kids, kindly know I have accepted the will of God and moved on. I am a mother of the motherless and I’m proud of that,” the imposter said.
Using her real account, the lawmaker denied being the author of the above comment.
Odhiambo said she believes that the same God who blessed the biblical Sarah will one day visit her.
“I have not commented about not having a child. I want to pull a Sarah at 100 years. A baby is coming at 100 years,” she said.
The parliamentarian regretted that some people saw the fake remark and started mocking her due to her political stance.
“Apparently some people are abusing me or celebrating that I don’t have a child. It has even taken a political tone with one faction celebrating and the other condemning them,” she said.
She added that some good people had empathised with her situation and prayed that her wish to become a mother be fulfilled.
However, the lawmaker said that not even one day has she lacked sleep or got into depression due to childlessness.
Further, Odhiambo remarked that having a child does not change one’s character.
“If you are an idiot, with or without a child you are still one. If you are merciful, with or without a child you still are,” the politician, who is a lawyer by training, said.
