Controversial gospel artist Ben Githae has elicited mixed reactions yet again after unveiling a song to give currency to ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid, especially in Mt Kenya.

The song is not entirely new, but a remix of the Tano Tena song that he composed for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in 2017.

Speaking during an ODM function at the Coast where he had been invited by media mogul SK Macharia, the musician said he is fully behind the former Prime Minister and would use his talent to implore Mt Kenya dwellers to support join him in saying “Baba Tosha”.

He has the last line of the Tano Tena song and now instead of singing “Uhuruto Tano Tena”, now he has inserted Raila’s name.

Ndani, ndani, ndaaani to the State, Mlima wote, baba tosha,” he sang.

Githae added that he will preach Raila’s message in his backyard without fear.

Over the last year, the Tano Tena song has been on many Kenyans’ lips.

Some of those who voted for the Uhuruto duo claim that he influenced them to make bad electoral choices.

However, he denied manipulating anyone to vote for Uhuru and Ruto, saying that he never forced Kenyans to elect the Jubilee government.

There are Kenyans who argue that Githae is just a smart businessman using his God-given gift to make money.

This is how some netizens reacted after the Tano Teno remix:

Kenyahwe Lemaiyan: “He supports billionaires for a good fee. Much smarter than most Kenyans insulting him. He will be smiling to the bank yet again.”

Robert Nyamburi: “The song will not fetch vote unless ears start voting.”

Marvin Mwangi: “He was a good gospel musician, but now he has diverted his energy to politics and he’s worshipping money. Sad!”

Absy Ayany: “Please Mr. Githae. We do not want that song. You should be arrested and released after the election.”

Christine Mugo: “You are a disgrace to the gospel industry. Just because of money, you are now worshipping politicians.”

Salome Masau: “Ben Githae, that’s your hustle, do it with all your might though it may not change the voting pattern.”

Don Abdi: “The guy should be caned properly like a burukenge. We are not going to allow him to give crooked civil education to the public.”
