Top Kenyan singer Judith Nyambura Mwangi, better known by her stage name Avril, has released a new song named Danger, which features fast-rising Kenyan musician Brandy Maina, but it looks that her fans aren’t digging it.
The song received less than 1,000 views on YouTube the day after it was published.
This is in stark contrast to her other songs, which receive hundreds of thousands of views almost immediately after being released.
She has a flair for launching popular singles, from Hello Baby to Nikimuona.
Blogger Nimrod Nick posted on his Instagram page about how he felt about the song’s performance.
“You’re messing with Avril. What is the problem?” he asked.
In response, Avril speculated that after she dies, her songs will receive greater attention.
“Don’t worry, after I die, the songs I’ve written over the years will still be popular, and maybe even receive affection. Never be concerned. Thank you for the post, the mockery, and the love,” she wrote.
Danger is an afro-pop feel-good tune with a South African Amapiano flavor.
“The song seeks to urge all of us not to take life too seriously,” the singer says.
The majority of Kenyans blamed her song’s poor performance on her ‘inconsistency,’ while some claim Avril has lost touch with her fans and needs to engage them more frequently.
