Mombasa Bans Home-Based Care in Covid-19 Response 

The County Government of Mombasa has banned home-based care over fears of improperly set up Intensive Care Units (ICUs). 

Mombasa County’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee on Tuesday, August 3, issued the new directive as part of measures to counter the rapid spread of Covid-19 disease. 

According to data from the Ministry of Health, Mombasa County has recorded a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases.

This has prompted the county’s response committee to intervene and come up with measures to curb the further spread of the disease.

In addition, the county has also banned all public gatherings and in-person meetings just as did the Ministry of Health.

Other directives issued by the county include all employees working from home except for critical services. The county has also banned all live performances in hotels and restaurants and moved to enforce the one-meter social distancing rule in all public facilities including supermarkets and bars.

The county has also doubled its efforts to ensure as many residents as possible are vaccinated.

The response committee was formed in order to assess the preparedness of the county in addressing the pandemic.
