Residents thronged Mumias Sports Complex grounds yesterday to view the body of Harambee Stars and AFC leopards fan Isaac Juma.

The body was being preserved at the Butere Level Four Hospital morgue. It was moved in a convoy of vehicles some 20km away for the viewing.

Juma was killed on January 27 at his family home in Rukaya village, Mumias. He will be buried today. Fans wept uncontrollably as others mimicked his antics, creating the much-needed relief.

“I am here as an AFC fan and an admirer of Isaac Juma. I travelled from Kakamega town with a group of Ingwe Kakamega Branch to come see our departed loyalist,” said Owen Musoma, AFC Kakamega Branch chairman.

His family led by Burial Committee Chairman Zebio Kweyio presented a funeral budget of Sh1 million to the Kakamega county government but they were turned back and asked to review it downward.

Kweyio said the county government gave Sh390,000, urging well-wishers to help. “People stopped contributing after they heard the county government was contributing,” he said. Collins Lumumba, Juma’s friend, urged well-wishers to assist the family.
