A video clip of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri allegedly assaulting a woman in the National Assembly has surfaced online.

In the clip sighted by Litkenya.com, the second-time lawmaker can be seen beating the female sergeant-at-arms.

It took the intervention of security officers and other members to stop the violent and angry MP.

The incident was captured on camera during debating of the divisive Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

If it is proven that he acted disorderly against the Standing Orders, Ngunjiri could face disciplinary actions.

In a separate video, the parliamentarian was filmed shouting at the top of his voice, claiming that the ‘Handshake’ team bribed MPs to vote in favour of the Bill, which seeks to change the Political Parties Act. 2011.

He put in the view an envelope which he claimed was used to hide the money for buying MPs.

“This envelope had Ksh10 million for bribing this House. We are allowed to carry anything in this house, but they sneaked the money,” he said.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro alleged that Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi dished the millions to lawmakers in an attempt to sway them.

Nyoro was ordered to leave the House for making unsubstantiated claims. He was suspended from two sittings.

Gedi was also chased after she started distributing sweets to her colleagues.

Despite the drama created by allies of Deputy President William Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga-axis managed to pass key proposals contained in the Bill.

The ‘Handshake’ camp successfully endorsed the clause allowing political parties to form a coalition political party.

President Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), and other partners want to formalise their union through a coalition political party, but the individual outfits won’t lose their identities.
