Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi embarrassed himself when he posted an allegedly forged document for deported Turkish businessman Harun Ardin.

Sudi was trying to fight off claims by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who told a committee of Parliament, that the Turk’s passport indicated had left the country twice without a stamp confirming his arrival in Kenya.

“What that means, in practical terms, is that two times he was sneaked into the country. If you leave the country, as you know, honourable members, all you have travelled, when you arrive your passport is stamped,” Matiang’i explained.

Sudi produced stamped passports that Aydin, who is Deputy President William Ruto’s business associate, used to leave and enter the country on diverse dates.

However, hawk-eyed Kenyans were quick to point out inconsistencies in the documents that the MP published on his Facebook page.

In one of the stamps, it was suggested that Aydin was in Entebbe on 70th July 2021. This is even though July has only 31 days.

Kenyans had a field day bashing Sudi for sharing an apparently fake document.

Critics claimed that the pass was forged while others argued it could have been an error by the Immigration Department staff.

“Ever heard of a 70th July? If you haven’t, visit Uganda. They have it in their calendar,” Pauline Njoroge said.

In the meantime, Matiang’i dismissed claims that the government had apologised to the authorities in Turkey following Aydin’s deportation on Monday.

The Super CS maintained that the Turk was arrested for allegedly being involved in money laundering.

He explained that the man was expatriated on request by Turkish officials in Istanbul.

There were claims that the State had dispatched Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to Turkey to offer an apology on behalf of the government.

Kalonzo denied the reports, saying his visit to Turkey had nothing to do with the businessman’s deportation.

Aydin was arrested last Saturday after arriving from Uganda, where he and six other allies of the DP had visited for an unspecified mission. The DP was supposed to be on the trip, but he was blocked by Immigration officials from flying out on the grounds that he did not seek permission from his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
