Kenyans have for the first time watched ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s only daughter making her inaugural public address.
Maryanne Mudavadi was tasked to make a short speech and welcome her dad at the ANC National Delegates Conference.
“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, excellencies, distinguished guests, all protocol observed. I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. Good morning dad, the next President of Kenya. I am the daughter of Hon Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi,” she started.
The young lady went ahead to praise her father, saying he has sacrificed a lot for the country since joining in the late 80s. However, she was not very sure when her dad joined politics and had to confirm for him.
She described Mudavadi as a strong, tried, experienced, and prominent figure in Kenyan politics.
“My dad is a champion for change for all Kenyans regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, and class. He is an inspiration to both the old and young leaders and a role model to many.
“Considering all the sacrifices my dad has made for this country due to his extremely selfless nature, kind and integrity, I stand here very proud to say that this is my dad. Therefore, it is with my deepest honour that I introduce the man himself of the moment, my dad, party leader of ANC Hon Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi (cheers).”
What caught the attention of many Kenyans is her polished English. Her heavy British accent indicates that she went to some school in the United Kingdom.
Some netizens admitted that they struggled to understand her speech, which sounded crammed, because of the deep accent, saying she is the real example of a cool kid.
Others, especially men, acknowledged that she is beautiful.
Hezbron Mureithi said: “She did not have to lie to her dad that much although I must say she is mali safi (beautiful).”
“I need her contacts. She should personally convince me to vote her dad,” Brian Opiyo wrote.
