Following the death of retired President Mwai Kibaki, the country is in sorrow.

Kibaki died on Friday morning, according to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s announcement.

The Head of State praised his successor as “a true patriot whose legacy of civic responsibility will continue to inspire generations of Kenyans long into our future.”

Kenyans were not left out in mourning their former President, who fueled the country’s economic prosperity.

Kibaki’s death bears some resemblance to that of his late wife, Lucy.

Kibaki and Lucy died in April, and his death comes only four days before Lucy’s fifth anniversary.

While the facts surrounding Lucy’s death have not been made public, she died in a foreign country.

Lucy, a philanthropist and anti-AIDS advocate who wore many hats, died in London.

She had been admitted to the Bupa Cromwell Hospital weeks before her death at the age of 80, after being moved there from Kenya.

Lucy, according to official sources, died of an unidentified ailment.

On May 8, 2016, she was laid to rest in their Othaya home.
