Mwangi Kiunjuri: ‘Mt Kenya Will Make Raila President, Ruto ‘Destroyed’ Himself’

The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has hinted at working with ODM boss Raila Odinga.

The former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary said the ex-Prime Minister was inching closer to the presidency by day.

Speaking during an interview on Inooro TV, Kiunjuri said Deputy President William Ruto, whom he had initially tipped to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been making costly political mistakes, especially in the Mt Kenya region.

Comparing the two main presidential contenders, the veteran politician said the second in command is on a self-destruction mode while Raila is adopting effective strategies.

He noted that while the DP has been discouraging fringe parties from the Mt Kenya area, the former Premier is ready to work with them.

“Truth be told, Raila is making serious inroads in Mt Kenya. The fact that he is embracing small parties makes him more suitable than his competitors.

“The DP might think that he very strong in the Mountain, but it seems Raila will give him sleepless nights. Ruto should know that the people who are willing to work with Raila are also politicians and know how to mobilize voters,” he said.

He projected that the opposition leader will get more than 30 percent in the Mt Kenya region.

“If Raila manages 30 percent, which is about 1.5 million votes, he will automatically become President. According to my observation, a Raila’s presidency looks inevitable.”

In addition, the former CS insisted that he will not fold his party to join Dr. Ruto United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

He advised Kenyans to reject politicians who want to take Kenya back to the era of one party.

“You saw what happened when we collapsed our outfits and formed Jubilee Party in 2016. We were betrayed and I don’t think any sane person can repeat the same mistake.”
