Falling from grace to grass is one of the most blush-making situations in life.
Ronald Osumba was thrust into the limelight in 2012 after former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth announced him as his presidential running mate.
At the time, he was in his early 30s, and to say the least, life was good.
Osumba was one of the senior managers at Safaricom and his young family was his motivation.
However, resigning to join politics was just but beginning of his downfall. Quitting his well-paying job and losing the presidency was a double tragedy.
Taking to Twitter, Osumba narrated how in his 30s he had a beautiful life, but now he is rebuilding after losing everything.
“At 30 with one, child senior manager at Safaricom, owned a home, two parcels of land, two cars. At 33 had two children, three cars, more land, and running for Deputy President. At 40 lost all those things except my children. At 42 I am rebuilding smarter,” he said.
Everything he had was auctioned in 2019 and parted ways with his wife.
Responding to netizens who blamed his financial and marital woes on his trial at a political career, Osumba said he has picked the lessons and moved on.
“I have seen some blame politics. I think this is far-fetched and we run the risk of discouraging young leaders who want to offer themselves to build the nation. And while politics can cause a major financial dent, still boils down to choices on fundraising and spending,” he said.
He was, however, quick to point out the separation from his wife had nothing to do with financial misery.
“For the avoidance of doubt, my marital issues had absolutely nothing to do with finances. I think it is unfair to always assume that women take off at the first sign of trouble. Life happening is never a single event.”
