Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has become the second partner in the National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition to leave.

The former Prime Minister announced that the Orange outfit pulled out of the alliance in good faith.

“The ODM Party NEC has resolved that the party formally exit the NASA Coalition,” he said.

The opposition chief noted that his party has now started to court new partners.

“We shall now embark on a new, inclusive and futuristic political trajectory. I’m impressed by team’s enthusiasm in promoting our party’s social justice agenda,” Raila said.

The ODM National Executive Council’s resolution comes three days after Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party also exited the coalition.

If one more party pulls out, the coalition stands dissolved.

Initially it Wiper, ANC and Ford-Kenya that wanted to leave Nasa to protest ODM’s “dishonesty”.

Kalonzo, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetangula accused the ex-Premier of failing to honour a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in 2017.

They claimed that Raila had pledged to back Kalonzo and Mudavadi presidential ticket in the upcoming General Election.

However, the former Prime Minister argued that since he did not become President, the promise cannot be kept.
