Multilingual journalist Kimberley Leonard has shared more than 30,000 tweets.

However, she did not know that her tweet on Friday, 18th June, would attract so much interest from Kenyans.

She posted a unique clock that her mother has been using. The wall clock has Kikuyu words to make it simple for her mum.

Some local media outlets retweeted the photo, telling their fans that Kimberly was born in Kenya.

She replied and made it clear that she was not only born in Kenya, but she is also proud to be a Kenyan.

“Guys – I’m not only Kenyan-BORN – I’m Kenyan….you can’t get rid of me like that! lol!” she wrote.

Considering that she looks more European, Kenyans threw a few tests at her to confirm that she is, indeed, a Kenyan.

To the surprise of many of them, her Kiswahili is perfect and she can write a few Kikuyu words, too.

A tweep by the name Sam Baja posed to her: “If you’re truly a Kenyan lady, hebu tuma text ya kuomba fare.”

She replied: “Si unipromote kidogo?”

At that point, Kenyans were convinced that she is one of their own.

The news presenter also produced her Kenyan national identity card and passport.

Some men even tried to propose to her. Lol!

Kimberley was born and bred in Kenya. She grew up in Lang’ata, Nairobi, and her father was a pilot.

She currently works as a news anchor at Sky News TV, an international station based in London.

The polished journalist has previously worked work Al Jazeera English and boasts 20 years of experience in the media industry.

She is fluent in English, Kiswahili and French.
