Netizens React as Willy Paul Announces Bid to Vie for MP Seat in Mathare

Controversial musician Wilson Abubakar Saldido AKA Willy Paul has announced his ambition to vie for the Mathare Member of Parliament (MP) seat in the fast-approaching 2022 General Elections.

Taking to Instagram, the music sensation posted a poster of himself with a caption that assures Mathare constituents a change when he ascends to power.

“Are you ready Mathare? Let’s bring that change.”

His announcement comes as a shocker as the singer stated earlier that entertainers who join politics are failures and oppressors who seek to maltreat those who are below them.

“Msanii anaingia politics ni failure. Anajua hawezi survive kwa industry so anataka aingie pale anyanyase watu. I am not a failure. I cannot join politics.” Willy Paul had stated in an interview with SPM Buzz.

Going by the current declaration by the Nimelewa hitmaker, he will be seeking to unseat the current Mathare MP, lawyer Anthony Tom Oluoch, of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

He is yet to announce the political party that will sponsor his candidature, his political outfit, or his desired candidate for Presidency in the 2022 polls.

Willy now joins the stream of entertainers who are debuting politics. Some of the artists who will be in the polls in 2022 include Jasper Muthomi AKA, MC Jessy for South Imenti MP seat, and comedian Jalang’o for MP, Langa’ta.
