Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee has today, Friday, 12th November suspended all national leagues for two weeks.
This means that the FKF Premier League, FKF National Super League, FKF Division One, FKF Women’s Premier League, and FKF Women’s Division One League remain suspended until 26th November.
The directive comes after the Sports CS Amina Mohamed disbanded FKF led by its boss Nick Mwendwa and appointed a caretaker committee to run Kenyan soccer for the next six months.
In the statement, the committee chairman Aaron Ringera said the decision is to meant to ensure the regularisation of league activities across the country.
“Following a meeting of the Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee [on Friday morning], it has been unanimously decided to suspend the FKF Premier League, the National Super League, FKF Division One, FKF Women’s Premier League, FKF Women’s Division 1 League for a period of two weeks starting today, November 12, 2021,” read part of the statement.
“The decision has been reached to ensure regularisation of the league activities across the country. The Committee will be engaging with clubs and other football stakeholders in due course.”
However, leagues running under the branches and sub-branches will continue as normal.
“We wish to reassure all lovers of Kenyan football that the committee will ensure operations of all football activities across the country and beyond,” said Ringera.
The move comes even as the World football governing body, Fifa has threatened to ban Kenya from all football activities due to the government’s interference in the internal affairs of the football federation.
