Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Ndegwa Wahome has reaffirmed his candidature for the County’s Gubernatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections and refuted claims that he had bowed out of the race.
Mr. Wahome, who is contesting the sit on a Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) Party said he was firmly in the race as the next Nyandarua Governor adding that no amount of intimidation and false propaganda would force him to withdraw from the contest.
“Kindly be notified that I am firmly in the race for Governor Nyandarua on a Chama Cha Kazi Ticket(CCK). I am already duly nominated to fly the CCK Flag in Nyandarua and am holding a nomination certificate to that effect.
He noted that Kenya is a Country Governed by the Rule of Law and I want to assure all our party members and supporters that I will be on the Ballot on the 9/8/22 on the CCK Ticket.
He cited fake reports circulating on the social media and other platforms claiming he had withdrawn in favour of the recently nominated candidate Dr. Moses Kiarie Ndirangu on a UDA ticket.
Speaking to the press in Ol-Kalou town, Wahome said he had already written to CCK party leadership to clarify his candidature and ensure that his name is submitted to the IEBC by close of business tomorrow (Friday).
Failure to this, the speaker said he would seek legal redress noting that he had a constitutional right to contests and protect his candidature, and hence CCK must come out clearly and distance itself from the false information circulating on the social media.
He noted that he had already paid all the required amount of money demanded by the party and therefore he was the bonafide candidate to contest for the seat on a CCK ticket.
He reiterated that he was committed to continue with his political campaigns and also drum up support for UDA presidential candidate William Samoei Ruto.
Mr. Ndegwa Wahome is set to squire it out with Dr. Moses Kiarie of UDA and either Governor Francis Kimemia or former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki who are fighting it out to see who will fly the Jubilee Party flag.
