Oburu: How can Raila go home without becoming President?

Dr Oburu Oginga, the elder brother to Raila Odinga says there is no way his brother Raila can retire from politics without becoming President. In an interview with one of the local dailies, Oburu on Sunday wondered why some people were quick to urge Raila to retire on the basis of his age.
”We do not see anyone who can pose a challenge to Raila. Some people are saying he goes home, how can he go home before becoming President?” ” So, we are saying, let him be President for even one term. Age is just a number,” Oburu said. Raila is currently out of the country recovering after a successful surgey.
ODM leader Raila has spoken for the first time after undergoing a successful surgery. Odinga, who is at the Saudi German Hospital Dubai (SGH Dubai) was commenting in the just concluded Malawian elections.
”I congratulate the people of Malawi on the successful and peaceful presidential election and incoming President Lazarus Chakwera on his impressive victory,” Odinga said. The former premier proceeded to commend outgoing President Mutharika for allowing a peaceful and orderly transition of power, in an election he says was keenly followed across the continent.
”I commend the outgoing President Peter Mutharika for creating the environment for a peaceful and orderly transfer of power. The election was followed keenly beyond Malawi and is a symbol of hope for those who support democracy in Africa and around the world,” he added.
ODM Deputy Leader Hassan Joho on Friday said Odinga was recoivering well after the minor surgery.
”’I had the opportunity to speak to my party leader and my father the Baba of the nation. I feel happy and encouraged that he is progressing well,” the Mombasa Governor said.
