Migori County Woman Representative aspirant Fatuma Mohammed who was seeking the ODM ticket has lost the nomination even after spending millions on her campaign.
Fatuma who was making a third stab at the seat stormed the tallying centre at Migori Teachers College on Monday evening, 18th of April accusing the ODM party of rigging her out in favour of nominated MP Dennitah Ghati.
ODM nomination officials announced Denitah Ghati, a nominated member of parliament as the winner with 37,792 votes while Fatuma garnered 23,552 votes to emerge second.
Emotional Fatuma disclosed that she sold her house for Ksh25 Million to finance her campaigns and prove to ODM that she was ready to fly the party’s flag on the 9th August elections.
“I have been very fair to the party, they do wrong to me I kneel down and say It’s ok Baba (Raila). I’m spending millions, I sold my house worth Ksh25 million to prove that I want to be a woman rep of Migori county and I have proven,” said Fatuma.
Fatuma who contested the woman representative seat in the 2013 and 2017 polls, called on the ODM leadership led by the former Prime Minister to exercise impartiality in the entire process.
“2017 I won they took my victory and gave it to current woman rep Pamela Odhiambo. Today I won by landslide. When Baba came to Kuria, he negotiated with the Kuria community and told them Ghati cannot win, she is not a strong candidate, she is not popular. I have tried to reach ODM party officials and one of them told me that I cannot stop the process,” she said.
She threatened that if the ODM party will not reverse the results she will have no option but to vie as an Independent Candidate.
