Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has awarded Nakuru Town West aspirant Dr Isoe Ochoki a direct ticket after aspirants seeking the seat under the party resolved to support his candidature.

Ochoki was contesting for the seat with politician Hezron Okiki who withdrew his bid before the primaries scheduled to start Friday.

According to the duo, the matter was ratified by the party election commissioners, shelving the much-awaited nominations for the constituency.

Ochoki faced incumbent MP Samuel Arama of Jubilee Party in the 2017 contested results in which the former moved up to the Court of Appeal.

Nakuru Town West constituency has a total of 97,549 registered voters and in the 2017 elections, Arama garnered 29,682,  Ochoki coming second with 25,071 and Kariko Mwango a distant third with 12,766.

According to Ochoki, the party was slowly reinventing itself from being labelled chaotic by allowing more democracy for members.

Ochoki, a gynecologist and the proprietor of Baraka Maternity and Nursing Home said members should not leave the party but give negotiated democracy for posterity.

He said ODM will be on the ballot in the forthcoming parliamentary seat despite a move by leaders under the Azimio La Umoja movement calling for negotiated democracy.

On his part Hezron Okiki, insisted that party primaries for the ward reps in the constituency will go ahead as planned, calling on the party headquarters to constitute an independent committee that will oversee the exercise.
