The new OPPO Reno6 series is coming to the Kenyan market. We are not yet sure which of the many devices in the series will be making their way in. However, we know for sure one of the devices OPPO Kenya will announce will support 5G.

With that information we can speculate that once again, for this market, only either the Reno6 Z and the Reno6 will be available. If they go so high, perhaps the Reno6 Pro, leaving out the Pro+ model.

The early September launch will mark OPPO’s first 5G device in the market. This comes at a point in time where we haven’t yet seen any significant rollout of the network across the country. Safaricom is currently the only network with public 5G stations, but getting these spots is still a gamble.

Despite the lack of significant 5G coverage, we’ve seen companies like HMD’s Nokia and Samsung introduce devices with 5G support. All these are hoping that their customers will be among the first to access and take advantage of 5G networks when they become widely available in the country.

Given the Reno5 was really good, and remains a daily driver for me, I am really looking forward to the Reno6.

I can’t wait to see what Mediatek’s Dimensity chips can do. And to experience any new customisations and features OPPO has introduced to ColorOS.

What about you?
