Ssaru remains Queen of Genegetone by becoming the second most-streamed Kenya female artiste in 2021.
2021 was an exciting year for Kenyan music, as compared to the subdued 2020 which was marred by the global pandemic. This year, Kenyan music offered phenomenal events such as the just-concluded Sol Fest headlined by Sauti Sol, the Khali Cartel 4 music video from Khaligraph Jones featuring the winners of the Odinare rap challenge and the surprising rap debut by Diana B.

Boomplay, the top music streaming service in Africa, with over 60M active listeners from worldwide. According to Boomplay Kenya, Otile Brown, Bahati and Willy Paul are Kenya’s most-streamed male artists taking positions 1,2 and 3 respectively. Additionally, Nadia Mukami, Mercy Masika and Ssaru are the most-streamed female artists taking positions 1, 2 and3 respectively.
Boomplay has also collated date Most Streamed Songs, all of which belong to Otile Brown, as well as Most, Liked Songs which includes Mejja’s “Tabia za Wakenya”.
