Over 1000 People to take part in the inaugural Wings For Life Virtual Run on May 9th – KBC

Over 1000 participants are expected to take part in the inaugural   Virtual Wings For Life World Run  set to be held this Sunday May 9 .

The race which will be held through a mobile phone APP  for the 1st time in Kenya ,was founded in 2004 across various countries in Europe with  proceeds from cause going  towards  cure and  research  for spinal cord injuries .

According to  Timothy  Muzaliwa  a student representative supporting the awareness , the race  will start at same time in different countries across the world with participants competing in any distance  Virtually.

“This run is a global event that’s a drive towards getting individuals and groups alike to
donate their time and resources in solidarity to the cause. The final goal is to find the
cure for spinal injury,” said Timothy Muzaliwa – a student representative supporting
event awareness.

This year’s  race which will feature  amateur athletes  only , will be held annually in Kenya with the subsequent editions set to involve  Professional athletes to create more  awareness on  spinal cord injuries and best way of seeking treatment.

The event is organized by  Red Bull an  Austrian energy drink manufacturer.
