The sittings of the bicameral parliament are set to resume on Tuesday after a break.

The National Assembly went on recess on 4th March, 2022 while the Senate proceeding on recess on 11th March, 2022.

This will be the third last sitting of the bicameral parliament which is set to be dissolved on 10th June this year ahead of the 9th August General Election.

But before then, the itinerary of the bicameral parliament which has limited time is already full with a number of bills waiting to be dispensed with.

Before going on recess , the National Assembly had passed the division of revenue bill which is now being read for the first time in the Senate.

The bill is a priority in the Senate since the country is now in the budget preparing mode with the budget expected to be read earlier than expected due to the general elections .

The other priority bill on the both houses of parliament will be Election Amendment Bill of 2022 which was read for the first time in the National Assembly.

The bill sponsored by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) seeks to have alternative methods to be deployed to relay results during the August 9 polls.

The bill has already attracted opposition from both sides of the political divide saying it will create room for irregularities.
