Police Barricade Thika Road, Cause Huge Snarl Up

Police have barricaded Thika Road causing massive traffic on all Nairobi inbound lanes on the evening of Tuesday, November 16.

Reports indicate that the National Police Service (NPS), with the help of the National Youth Service (NYS) are inspecting all vehicles headed into and out of the Nairobi CBD.

There was a huge snarl up along the highway following the exercise.

It was not immediately clear why the random search was carried out. However, it came a few days after three terrorists escaped from Kamiti Prison on the night of Monday, November 15. 

It also came on the same day that a terror attack hit the Ugandan capital of Kampala – prompting the National Police Service to issue an alert advisory to its officers and to civilians. 

Wintesses indicated that the traffic was worse around Roysambuarea due to the roadblock that has been planted at Garden City Mall.
