Police in Kirinyaga are investigating an incident where a 25-year-old woman was found dead in her rental house at Nyangati village in Mwea East sub-county.
County police commander Matthew Mang’ira said the woman’s body was found dangling on a rope from the roof of the house.
Mang’ira said the body was discovered by a construction worker who alerted her husband and neighbours.
He said the woman’s husband and two men who were working on a construction site in the neighbouring compound have recorded statements at Wang’uru Police Station.
He said they will know the cause of death after a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, a local administrator was injured after he was allegedly attacked by a police officer.
The administrator had reportedly gone to arrest a suspected bhang dealer at Kiangwaci village when the officer from Kiangwaci Police Post attacked him in an alleged bid to protect the suspect.
Mang’ira said there was a misunderstanding between the officer and the administrator and that the incident is being investigated by officers from Sagana Police Station.
