Police Officer Kills Wife, Five Others Before Turning Gun on Self

A police constable based at Kabete Police Station shot dead his lover and five other people before turning the gun on himself on Tuesday morning, 6th December.

According to the police, Constable Benson Imbatu who returned home with his AK47 rifle picked up an argument with his wife before shooting and killing her.

Neighbors and bodaboda drivers running their operations near the Heights apartment where the officer was staying rushed to the house to see what had happened. This was after they saw fire coming out of the house.

In the process, Imbatu came out with his gun and shot five other people, including two bodabodas and his neighbors.

Two other people who were critically injured in the shooting were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.

The officer later retreated to his house where he committed suicide by shooting himself in the neck.

The incident was confirmed by Dagorreti police boss Francis Wahome who told the media that they still don’t know the motive of the incident.

Police have recovered an AK-47 rifle with four rounds of ammunition and four empty cartridges
