Police woman kills cop husband, commits suicide in Trans Nzioa

Detectives in Trans Nzoia County are investigating an incident in which a policewoman is believed to have shot and killed her husband before committing suicide.

According to a police report, a female police officer Dorcas Chebet attached to Kiminini Police Station travelled to Kiungani Police Station about 5-kilometers away, where her husband Abel Ondari works Abel Ondari works at 10:30 am Sunday before heading to Ondari’s house within the station.

The OCS Mary Umazi said that at around 11:30 am officers heard gunshots from Ondari’s house and when they rushed to find out what was happening, they found the two officers dead.

The bodies of the officers have been moved to Kitale County Hospital mortuary awaiting further police action.

Confirming the incident, Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Sam Ojwang’ said cases of junior officers resorting to violence and maiming one another are on the increase.

Ojwang’ appealed to senior police officers to ensure that they are close to their juniors to be able to advise them and forestall some of the violent incidents being witnessed in the country.
