President Uhuru Kenyatta has declined to assent to the Kenya Deposit Insurance amendment bill 2021 and asked parliament to reconsider amending it. In a memoranda communicated to the national assembly by speaker Justin Muturi, the President in his reservations said a proposal to introduce a six-month deadline for compensation of a customer contravenes an existing clause in the original bill that provides for payment to be done in thirty days.
