Raila Attacks Ruto Hours After DP Wished Him a Happy Birthday

ODM leader Raila Odinga has scolded Deputy President William Ruto just hours after the second in command wished him a happy birthday.

Speaking at his birthday party held at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, the former Prime Minister cautioned Kenyans against the DP.

He challenged the DP to explain the source of the money he has been dishing to different groups around the country.

“Every month he has been distributing Ksh100 million yet we know his salary is just Ksh2 million monthly. Where has he been getting the money?” he posed.

He also dismissed Dr. Ruto’s claims that he (Raila) is stingy, stating that he does not like to entrench the handouts culture.

Further, the AU High Commissioner on Roads and Infrastructure said he was the right person to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila asserted that the 10-point manifesto he unveiled last month during the Azimio la Umoja national convention will be a gamechanger. One of the points was to continue President Kenyatta’s legacy.

“My agenda is very clear. I will streamline this country and ensure uplift every Kenyan economically. What is in my manifesto is something achievable and I have no doubt about that in my mind,” he said.

The veteran politicians also defended his social welfare plan which the DP has branded as a “national handouts programme”. The former Premier has pledged that every poor household will be getting Ksh6,000 from the government.

“This is something that has been tried and tested even in developed countries. The government has a duty of taking care of the poor,” he said.

Other key agendas in Raila’s manifesto include education and healthcare.
