After a series of meetings with elders from Kajiado and Narok counties, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is set to hold an Azimio la Umoja rally today, on Wednesday, February 2, to drum up support of Maa community ahead of 2022 polls set for August.

The members of the maa community seem to be dancing to the tunes of ‘Baba’, especially after leaders like Governor Ole Lenku, Narok senator Ledama Olekina, Narok West legislator Ole Kenta and Environment Cabinet Secretary (CS) Keraiko Tobiko declared support for Raila’s presidential bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Meanwhile, their political rival, Kenya Kwanza, is arraying a counter-attack in a similar event at Naivasha in Nakuru County. Their campaign-trail will make stopovers at Naivasha Town, Karagita, and Kamere areas.

The Kenya Kwanza team is led by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

Kenya Kwanza was in Nairobi on Tuesday alongside Deputy President allied politicians from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

The DP seems to have mellowed out of the political arena, to strategize on new ways to win the hearts of voters before the fast-approaching General Elections.
