New details have emerged that the Deputy President William Ruto has partnered with a 33-year-old politician Moses Nandalwe to pay Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke’s fine to secure his freedom.

The embattled Sirisia lawmaker was ordered to pay Ksh 727 million for defrauding defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Ksh 300 million through a maize scandal or serve 67 years jail term.

Taking to his Twitter handle page, ODM party Communications Director Dennis Onyango called upon the second in command to come to the rescue of his embattled ally at risk of losing property and going to jail for embezzling government’s funds.

“I expect DP Ruto to come to help Major Waluke and many others who championed his course only to find themselves in deep trouble. William has enough troubles. Focus on Raila by small brains has not helped DP for seven years. It won’t help in one year. DP needs brains around him,” Onyango posted.

The lawmaker and co-accused Grace Wakhungu were on 25 June convicted of economic crimes after the case took edges to be settled.

Nandalwe who once served as an aide to Central Organisation Trade Union Secretary General Francis Atwoli stated that Waluke’s wife had also approached him seeking help, but did not disclose the amount of money he would give to secure Waluke’s release.

However, the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, has declared that he will launch an investigation to anyone who offers to pay Waluke and co-accused Grace Wakhungu’s court fines.

“If Waluke and co-accused seek to pay the fine, we will also question where that money is coming from. We can’t allow people to bring proceeds of crime to help another criminal,” Haji affirmed.
