Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to remain at Manchester United next season after insisting he is “happy and excited” by the arrival of Erik ten Hag while admitting that things “must change”.

Even in a disappointing season, the 37-year-old scored 24 goals across all competitions and netting various individual awards.

Despite being in the tail end of his career, Ronaldo is still committed to the Red Devils and making sure his team return to their former version of glory

“It’s still my motivation to carry on working hard, to still love the passion for the game, and of course Manchester and my teammates help me all the way so I have to appreciate all the people who help Cristiano.

“It’s always nice to score goals for this club. When it is a hat trick it’s even more [nice].

“But the most important thing for me is to try to win the games and try to win some championship or some cup but I believe that Manchester will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I still believe.” the Portuguese ace said.

After failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League, speculation concerning Ronaldo’s future has been rife, with it being predicted by many that he would leave the club.

He returned to the club from Juventus almost 12 months ago and single handedly dragged the Reds out of their Champions League group and netted important hat-tricks in the Premier League against Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur.

On working with new manager Ten Hag, the former Real Madrid talisman added: “I know he did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time and things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success of course because if you have success all of Manchester are going to have success as well. So I wish him the best.

Meanwhile,Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe will leave Manchester United this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Bailly signed a new three-year deal just over a year ago but played just seven times in all competitions for United this season, while Tuanzebe spent time on loan with Aston Villa and Napoli during the 2021/22 campaign.

Romano reports that Diogo Dalot is set to remain at Old Trafford, although fellow right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka could leave.
