Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev “mad max” died on Tuesday at 28 years old.
His death occurred just four days after the athlete lost an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior welterweight fight in Maryland. He suffered a severe brain injury during the fight.
Dadashev was quickly rushed to a Cheverly, Medical hospital for emergency surgery. He later died there.
This was his first professional loss , after 11 rounds, to Puerto Rican boxer Subriel Matias. Both fighters were undefeated with 13 win streak and were competing for a spot against the current champion title-holder, Josh Taylor.
The fatal bout took place at The Theater at MGM National Harbour in Oxon Hill, where Dadashev took an abundance of blows to the head.
He looked exhausted and his trainer McGirt pleaded with him to quit which he did deny but the referee ended the fight after listening to his trainer Buddy McGirt.
Matias aged 27, was declared the winner.
Investigations have been opened into the incidence.
