Ruto tricked me to step down – Nairobi News

MC Jessy has opened up on his recent fallout with Deputy President William Ruto.

Born Jasper Muthomi, the aspiring politician recently teamed up with the DP and joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) political outfit in a bid to capture the south Imenti parliamentary seat in the August 2022 polls.

Only for the DP to sidestep the primaries and hand Mwiti Kathara, MC Jessy’s opponent, a direct party ticket.

That move forced MC Jessy to quit UDA and announce he will contest as an independent candidate.

Reflecting on the incident in an interview with Citizen TV, the media personality claimed the DP never consulted him before announcing the decision.

“The biggest mistake I made was agreeing to have that meeting with the DP,” he said.

“I believed we were heading there for discussions on the way forward. But instead, I was asked to step down. I never agreed to step down. I could not speak about it immediately out of respect.”

“I talked to my supporters in Meru before meeting the DP. I discussed the need for a free and fair nomination exercise with my opponent before the meeting.”
