Tens of old videos by retired President Mwai Kibaki have always been used by Kenyans for fun and to make memes and now one of them has gone international.

One evening in January 2003, Kibaki called a press conference at State House. He was flanked by his late Lucy Kibaki and a few other individuals.

The reason for this presser was to clear the air on his relationship status after the media suspected that he had another wife.

The former Head of State asserted that Lucy was his only spouse and any information was false and defamatory.

“I want to state something that I have always wanted you to hold dearly and I permanently in your hearts. You know, I know and everybody else knows that I’m married and I have only one wife. I want to make it clear that I have only one dear wife, Lucy, who is here,” he clarified.

He also threatened to sue any media house that would publish a contradictory story.

Kibaki continued and asked the journalist to put forward any question they had.

There was silence before Lucy challenged the scribes to ask for any clarification, as that would be the last chance for the matter to be talked about.

An agitated Lucy warned that any journalist who would suggest that she has co-wife thereafter would face the music.

And guess what? Part of the video clip recently landed on award-winning US rapper Cardi B.

The artiste could not resist the temptation of sharing it with her 19.2 million Twitter followers, eliciting a lot of reactions. He reposted the clip that has been watched more than 1.1 million times.

Tweeps from across the world camped at the comments section to share their views, most of which were very hilarious.

Some tweeted that the rapper wanted the world to know that she is the only wife to her husband Offset.

Unfortunately, many non-Kenyans did not understand the context and ended up making very judgmental remarks. In fact, many thought the video was shot recently and argued that Kibaki and Lucy are old and should be spending time with their grandchildren.

Kenyans were however on standby to reply to anyone they felt was ignorant.
