The family of Citizen TV news anchor Waihiga Mwaura has finally revealed what caused the death of the journalist’s little sister, Gathoni Mwaura.

Gathoni died on April 14 at 4 am in a Nairobi hospital, according to a tribute delivered by Anne Githuku at CITAM Valley Road at the memorial service.

“Gathoni was healing nicely from a personal sickness in a Nairobi medical facility on Thursday, April 14, 2022, her mother’s birthday.

“She collapsed around 4 am and emergency personnel on the scene performed CPR on her. She took her final breath while being taken to another hospital.”

Despite her difficulties, Githuku noted that Gathoni wanted to help.

“Even though she had suffered from bipolar disease for years, Gathoni fought hard to achieve her goals.

“She was upfront about her mental health issues, and despite her agony, she went out to others to assist them.”

Lady Justice Anna Ngibuini Mwaure and Senior Advocate David Mwaure Waihiga were her parents.

Joyce OMondi, her sister-in-law, announced her demise on Tuesday.

Joyce added in the post that she was still coming to terms with Gathoni’s passing and that she would cherish the memories they shared.
