Shinyalu residents at mercy of rogue KWS officers

Residents of Shinyalu constituency bordering Kakamega forest have petitioned Kenya Human Rights Commission to investigate the operation of Kenya Wildlife Services officers more so, a one Maasai. The petition has come as area residents are planning a major demonstration to KWS local offices to demand for their rights.

Area MP is Justus Kizito is accused of abandoning them as they are being persecuted. Kelvin Lusalia was killed in April by KWS officer as bitter residents were demonstrating of mistreatment by the officers.

Speaking to Weekly Citizen, Henry Madikwa, the father of the late claimed the officer that killed his son was well known. The same officers also invaded a house hitting a pregnant woman who later miscarried.

A man who complained a KWS signboard had been erected in his land was not spared either by the rogue officers. The rogue officers have made residents of Buyango village have sleepless nights as they are attacked to produce firewood and charcoal claimed to originate from the forest.
