A politician aspiring to become the next Member of Parliament for Nambale Constituency in Busia County shocked Deputy President William Ruto after he subconsciously found himself popularising ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja.

Bernard Nandieki was given a chance to address a crowd at a Kenya Kwanza rally in the area.

He started by introducing himself and asking for votes before appealing to the residents to rally behind Azimio la Umoja.

“I am imploring you, people, to vote for Azimio,” he said.

Interestingly, the crowd cheered him.

He then remembered that the gathering had been organised by Kenya Kwanza and he is a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) hopeful.

“I was asking you to vote for Kenya Kwanza, which is led by chief hustler Dr. William Ruto,” he said.

Though it is normal for any person to make such an error, some Kenyans noted the reactions by the locals proved that the area is a stronghold of Raila.

Reactions:

Lawrence Kariuki: “This was well choreographed. The guy knew what the crowd wanted to hear. He had to appease them. He will be elected for that.”

Elijah T: “Ruto is wasting his time in Western Kenya. He better concentrate on selling Raila phobia in Mt Kenya.”

Halligan Agande: “The crowd cheered him on. When I hear people say that UDA will manage 30 percent of votes in Western Kenya, I wonder where that will come from.”

Ngunu Kimani: “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks… No worry…that came from his heart non provoked.”

Flower Flash: “Someone is still considering this as a slip of the tongue? My friend, would it still be a slip of the tongue when your girlfriend shouts the name of another guy during intimacy?

Dennis Atai: “What caught my attention is the reaction of the crowd. They actually loved it.”
