Since July 2016, Mzee Paul Kinuthia wakes up with just one wish – to get justice for his son.

His life has never been the same again after receiving news that Willy Kimani had been brutally murdered and his body dumped in a river in Machakos County.

Kimani, 32, was killed alongside his client, Josephat Mwendwa, and a taxi driver after a court appointment. The lawyer was representing Mwendwa, who had allegedly been shot by a police officer.

Mzee Kinuthia is shattered and his only hope is that the killers of his son will be charged and put behind bars – at least that will give him some consolation.

As the murder trial of Kimani goes on, the old man has man not missed even one court session.

Despite his il-health, Mzee has been facing the alleged murderers and listening pensively to shocking witness accounts.

“I am not well physically. Does the government want me to die before getting justice for my son,” he recently posed.
Last week, the case took a fresh twist after one of the suspects detailed how police kidnapped the trio and tortured them to death.

Pius Ngugi, a police informer, claimed that his role was to spy on the victims before their abduction and to discard the car they were using.

He also alleged that some of the accused had been trying to bribe him to stop implicating them.

He added that five officers, who were part of the team that carried out the execution, are still in service and have been questioned.

Pius is charged alongside four other officers, namely Fredrick Leliman, Stephen Cherubet, Syliva Wanjiku, and Lenard Mwangi.
