Reigning Jubilee Party headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta is planning to publicly announce their 2022 preferred Presidential candidate ahead of the General Elections.
Speaking during Azimio la Umoja rally in Murang’a, the Jubilee vice chairperson David Murathe said that they will have two National Delegates Conferences happening simultaneously at different venues, but the separate conferences will have a similar pinnacle when Raila will be unveiled at Nyayo Stadium.
“Soon we will hold our NDC, and we will ask delegates to adopt Raila as our candidate,” Murathe said.
“Ours will be at KICC, and ODM will have theirs at Bomas, then we meet at Nyayo and unveil our joint candidate under Azimio la Umoja.”
The outspoken and combative politician did not mention the dates of NDC but said that Jubilee was to have the conference held last year, but it was called off.
The former Gatanga MP stated that the DP had made their work of selecting the ideal Jubilee Presidential candidate easier after forming his UDA party. He said that DP Ruto is no longer a member of Jubilee, and he now grasps at straws pending kick out before the polls.
The convocation of Azimio la Umoja was attended by Murang’a locals, who had strongly proposed that Raila should consider having Peter Kenneth as his running mate.
Peter Kenneth is also a former Gatanga MP and served for close to ten years from 2002 to 2013 when he eyed Kenya’s fourth Presidency with his Kenya National Congress (KNC) party but emerged forth with 72 786 votes.
He has an exceptional record in public service and has previously been appointed as Assistant Minister of Finance and Assistant Minister of Planning and National Development and Vision 2030.
