The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has placed two lawmakers and a county speaker at the center of the attack on Azimio la Umoja Presidential aspirant Raila Odinga during his tour of Uasin Gishu County on Friday.
In a statement a day after the incident in the Kabenes area, DCI indicated that its preliminary investigations showed that some of the prominent leaders from the region indeed orchestrated the violence meted out on the Orange Democratic Movement leader.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the chaos was organized and coordinated by; 1. Hon Caleb Kositany, MP, Soi Constituency 2. Hon Oscar Sudi, MP, Kapseret Constituency 3. Hon David Kiplagat, speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly.” said the DCI
According to the DCI, chaos erupted at the close of a burial ceremony in which Odinga was in attendance, and stones including other projectiles were hurled at the former Prime Minister “by incited youth, maliciously damaging his helicopter’s windscreen.”
As a result, authorities want the three leaders to present themselves to the state latest Sunday for questioning.
“In view of the foregoing, the two legislators and County Assembly Speaker have pursuant to Section 52 of the National Police Service Act 2011, been summoned to appear in person before the Rift Valley DCI Regional cordinator on April 3, 2022, at 9 am, for further investigations into their involvement in the incident.” part of the statement read
