“All the contenders for DP Ruto running mates are my friends but Rigathi stands out because of his passion to support those who are weak and vulnerable. I have spoken to him several times and he has been mindful and helpful to me in my quest to empower my people who are living with several impairments. He is a great loving Kenyan and means well for this country so we support his nomination for the position of second in command” she said.

The 38 year old defied all odds in 2017 to clinch the seat garnering more than 186,085 votes to beat beat six other women including Orange Democratic Movement’s Esther Somoire, who managed 104,486 votes.

The soft spoken and firebrand politician who was nominated by Jubilee Party to the 11th Parliament in 2013 to represent the disabled in the county has emphasised her support for Dr Ruto’s Presidential ambition and other party candidates in the county.

“My record speaks for itself both and as a person living with disability, my duty has been majorly to champion the rights of my people, who have sometimes been ignored and I’m sure my colleague will building on the same once elected.

“The Constitution guarantees youths, women and the disabled an opportunity for employment both in the national and county governments and that’s we have been advocating” added the former adult literacy class.

Lately Ruto has seemingly changed his political strategy to woo members of the Maasai Community in Kajiado County by resorting to visiting influential Kajiado power brokers in the homes instead of hosting them at his Karen residence.

“We are rooting for UDA grassroots support. The visit is evident that the DP is able to reach the common mwananchi and to reach out to him one does not need a politician as a bridge” noted Teyiaa.

Kajiado with its Kajiado 463,547 registered number of voters is one the 13 battleground counties that are likely to determine the outcome of the presidential election, after opinion polls showed Ruto and Azimio La Umoja Movement leader Raila Odinga appear locked in a neck-and-neck race for State House.
